You know us, we’re all about the local and as proud as we can be of the number of outstanding food producers in our region. That’s why we’re handing out a standing ovation. In the November/December issue of Yankee magazine, awards of excellence were given by the editors to a trio of Connecticut producers. The Food Schmooze® congratulates you! Road trip anyone?
Cato Corner Farm
Colchester, for its Hooligan cheese, aged for two months and washed in buttermilk. That just sounds good, doesn’t it? Makes us want to wash ourselves in buttermilk. Anyway, this is a pungent cheese with a creamy interior.
Tea-rrific!
Bridgeport, for its Masala Chai Ice Cream, a spiced tea-infused treat.
Hillhome Country Products
Norfolk, for its Berries of the Woods, a chunky, fruit-laden jam made with blueberries, blackberries and raspberries.

My wife and I went to Cato Corner Farm on Saturday. Fantastic selection of cheese with friendly, helpful service. Wonderful cheese and terrific buying experience. Thanks for bringing the farm to our attention.

Jeff,
I agree, they ARE terrific. Sometimes, when I’m in NYC, I go to the Union Square Greenmarket and buy their cheese there, too, so they are never far from reach. We’re pretty lucky in our region with cheesemakers overall. Cheers, Faith
