From Faith Middleton: It’s not only the hottest party of the season, The Food Schmooze® Martini Competition, scheduled for Thursday, June 25, has officially filed an application with the Guinness World Records organization in hopes of qualifying this year as The World’s Largest Martini Competition.
Please join us at Riverview in Simsbury, Conn., from 6 to 9 p.m., as we attempt to make history. You’re invited to sample at an extraordinary array of martini and food stations before voting for the King or Queen of the competition. (Cocktail competitors register at events@cpbn.org.)
Dress is festive, but don’t be afraid to bring your dancing shoes because our D.J. rocks the ballroom as shakers rattle and competitors create innovative martini cocktails of every imaginable variety. At previous competitions, a talking robot appeared… a bartender made a giant ice sculpture… Plan B Burger Bar showed noir black and white films at its booth and handed out edible long-stemmed roses made of bacon. We never know what entertaining plan will capture our attention.
As always, safety is important to us; we offer $25 tickets to designated drivers. Others chip in on limos to and from our destination, and area hotels and inns sell out.
Once again, Anthony DeSerio of The U.S. Bartenders Guild will serve as a judge, though the majority vote will be taken from the audience in attendance. Watch for our winners to be announced in Connecticut magazine and here on The Faith Middleton Food Schmooze® site and show.
