Oh, the packing! Slipping the last item in my bag, my swimsuit, I realize my dream food safari to the Venice region begins in just hours.
I’m on a Food Schmooze® scouting trip, to locate the best places to eat, along with a few secret favorites known mostly to locals, including my friends there, so feel free to check in here in the coming days for the list. (I’m also scouting because we hope to create a series of phenomenal European food excursions for listeners in the near future. Stay tuned!)
Right now all I can think about is a bowl of pasta and seafood at one of my favorite spots perched on the canal in Venice, and an icy cold glass of Livio Felluga Pinot Grigio to go with it. (This wine is available in our WNPR region, in case you want to sip right along with me. Go for the reserve; it’s worth the extra money. It’s fabulous with pesto.)
After arriving in Venice, dear friends will be taking us to a staggeringly charming town nearby, Treviso, where they have a multi-floor apartment overlooking the walled village. It is in Treviso our adventure begins, where few Americans realize the food is spectacular, the way Italian food used to be before things started to change.
Treviso will be the hub, and we will branch out to a variety of towns offering dazzling food, good wines, architecture, views, and more.
I know how lucky I am to have such an assignment. As always, the joy for me will be sharing the highlights with you. Wait, did I buy enough data… FM
