Mrs. Prosperi’s Simple Raspberry Dessert

raspberries_recipeGrowing up, chef and all-star contributor, Chris Prosperi was lucky enough to spend summers in Goshen, CT, with his parents and siblings. During a recent Faith Middleton Food Schmooze®, Chris recounted one his favorite desserts from those days. The “recipe” is an original from Mrs. Prosperi and it embodies summer simplicity.

Mrs. Prosperi tended to raspberry bushes on the property, and when they were ripe (and sufficiently warmed by the sun) she’d put the berries in a cup or bowl, pour cream over the top and add just a touch—a teaspoon, perhaps, of Grand Marnier or brandy.

Warm berries, even warmer spirits, and cream? Yup. That’s summer. On the evenings this treat was served, Chris recalls sleeping particularly well. Must have been those berries.
