This Dry Riesling from Germany Makes a Great Gift

In our quest to share a few wines that you can feel confident about giving as gifts, we offer up this 2014 Riesling from Schloss Johannisberg. It’s in the $30 range (depending on your wine store) and it’s delicious. Dry, but floral as well, Gina Barreca imagined pairing this wine with a pâté, while Alex Province had visions of drinking it with a pan-fried pork chop with apples, nutmeg, and a cream sauce. Its floral qualities are pronounced, as Faith says, “you can almost taste the flower in here” so it’s a Riesling for your floral-leaning friends. If the recipient of this gift wine likes sweet wines, this may not be the one for her.
