In East End restaurant news, American Beech has opened in Greenport. The vibe is terrific, the food is good, and there is an inn attached. From what we’re hearing, Brooklyn hipsters are starting to grab up Greenport houses.
For visitors who’ve never been, The South Fork of Long Island is recognized as The Hamptons. The North Fork is like Sonoma in the old days — ungentrified, for the most part, and lined with farms, farm stands, and vineyards on or near the bay and Long Island Sound. All the vineyards have tastings. There are car ferries from Connecticut to Long Island in New London and Bridgeport.
