Hard to Beat This Boston Deal

From Faith: Just before interviewing Ina Garten at Symphony Hall in Boston recently, I needed sustenance. I phoned my niece, Suzanne Pinto, a New York and Boston foodie who also loves good style. On her recommendation, we quickly zipped over to a cool little eatery called Stella on Washington Street. The bartender handed us menus, explaining that any dish from the appetizer section could be had for $5. With a chill in the air, the grilled sausages with fresh chopped tomatoes and garlic-studded broccoli rabe sounded enticing, so I ordered a double serving, thinking it would be tiny at that price. Hilariously wrong; out came a giant platter of wonderful food we happily enjoyed. So much for the idea that one performs better on an empty stomach.

Imagine, dinner and a glass of a good robust Italian red for $18. (Please note that my entire dinner might have cost $13 if I’d waited to see the size before charging ahead with a double order.)

As for decor, Suzanne nailed it, as she always does; I wanted to move into the space — modern, white, and pale grey with flattering chic lighting.

If you’re willing to eat early, you’ll be able to take advantage of one of the best deals in the South End of Boston. (Be sure to call ahead to make sure Stella is offering the same deal.)
