Again, how brilliant of Cooks Illustrated magazine to find a way to use charcoal twice. Magazine testers say that after you’ve used a batch of charcoal once, dust off the ash, and save the coal chunks remaining. The next time you make a fire in your chimney starter, load if half way with used chunks, and halfway with fresh charcoal.
