From Faith: The Ghost Face Killa is an Aroogas chicken wing so hot you have to sign a waiver to eat it.
So says the menu at Aroogas Grille, opening in early March on the Norwich-New London Turnpike, adjacent to Mohegan Sun Casino. The Killa wing apparently features “the hottest chilis on earth.” Mohegan Sun is betting Aroogas will be one of the hottest destinations across the Northeast, where the tribal nation plans to partner in opening a total of 15 of these wing-centric sports bars.
We hope it’s a well placed bet on Mohegan’s part, since we’re already tickled by the sizzle of the Aroogas menu as it operates already in Pennsylvania. Among the chicken wings featured, you’re likely to find The Sudden Death, a molten hot creation and winner of the National Buffalo Wing Festival; Hot Ranch, made with Sriracha and smoked chipotle; Kinda Hot Medium, enhanced with jalapeno and lime; The Almost Everything; Red Thai; Buffalo Bleu; Buffalo Ranch; Louisiana Garlic; General Tso; Carolina Sweet and Tangy; BBQ Ranch; Garlic Parmesan; and Plain. Some of these wing sauces are gluten-free and any of them can be “double-dipped.”
Aroogas is a popular Pennsylvania chain operation that has agreed to partner with the Mohegan tribal Nation in the Northeast, as part of the Mohegan Tribe Council’s interest in diversifying for the future, says Kevin P. Brown, Mohegan Sun’s chairman. Brown told me construction on the 9,000 square foot grill is about complete, and its ready to open its doors to the public. Watch for major stories after March 4, Aroogas’s coming out party for the media. There will be no shortage of non-human media; 100 televisions are set to be spread around the rooms, and there will be a fire pit for patio customers. The launch team seems especially excited about its menu of 40 beers, chosen to pair with Aroogas noteworthy wings and its entrèes.
Main courses are likely to include the Wing/Slider Combo; Old Bay Crab & Shrimp Pasta; an array of sizzling fajitas, such as the Buffalojitas; various Mac & Cheese Combos and Crab Cakes.
