The Best Stain Remover

In the bottom of Faith’s bag, you’ll find an emergency Clorox bleach pen, though using her sister Sally’s trick, she has soaked half her wardrobe in Dawn before washing, getting a pretty good result. But our colleagues at Cook’s Illustrated decided to put a variety of stain removers to the test. We’ll spare you all the scientific details and cut to the chase.

The magazine’s Lisa McManus says the presence of sodium percarbonate is best for attacking the broadest spectrum of stains. She and her team “enthusiastically recommend” one and only one product — OxiClean Versatile Stain Remover. It takes a little more effort, they say, than a few sprays and rubbing, but if you want stain-free items, this is the way to go. Thank you, Cooks Illustrated; you’ve just saved us all a fortune.
