We say make wildly delicious and refreshing watermelon cocktails the easy way—by the pitcher. In this batch, Faith combines chopped watermelon with Rose’s Lime Juice and tequila, dressing up each glass with a sprig of fresh mint. —Faith Middleton Could you use a little more party? This Dry Riesling from Germany Makes a Great Gift
In our quest to share a few wines that you can feel confident about giving as gifts, we offer up this 2014 Riesling from Schloss Johannisberg. Alex Province had visions of drinking it with pan-fried pork chops with apples, nutmeg, and a cream sauce. Its floral qualities are pronounced, as Faith says, “you can almost taste the flower in here” so give this Riesling as a gift to wine-loving, floral-leaning hosts. You will be invited back.
If You Like Pinot Grigio, Try Pino Gris (Or Give it as a Gift)
The 2013 Pino Gris, from Paul Kubler, is out of Alsace France. It’s in the $30 range (depending on your wine store). If you like Pino Grigio, you’ll like Pino Gris. It’s simply the French term for Pino Grigio, so it’s the same grape varietal, same wonderful flavor. Faith described this Pino Gris as dry, with a mineral richness.
