If you think of boxed wines as cheap, industrially-produced, inferior wine, a rosé from one of our favorite French winemakers, Domaine Le Clos des Lumieres, is going to change your mind. High quality, estate grown boxed wines are readily available in Europe because of their smart packaging: less waste, easier to fill, no heavy glass to contend with, no costs for corks. And think of the benefits to you: it’s compact; easy to take on a boat, beach, or campsite; you get the equivalent of four bottles of wine for $35! And, it’s just a delicious wine.
Instead of heading for the bottles, head for the boxes, wine-drinkers. This is the rosé to keep in the fridge (for weeks!) or take to a party.
When you ask your wine shop to order you a box, tell the staff that the distributor is Winebow.

How do I find out if I can get it in my area? It looks wonderful, and wonderfully easy!
Alex Waid says
PS: I’m in Mystic, CT
Robyn Doyon-Aitken says
Alex, give Cory a call at Universal Package Store in downtown Mystic. He’s got boxes in stock (as of 10:31 am 5/26). Run down there!
Robyn Doyon-Aitken says
To anyone interested: Call the shop where you normally buy wine. Tell the staff the distributor is Winebow and the wine is called Clos des Lumierer, 3 liter box. The item number is 30204413. (I got that from Alex Province). That will make ordering a box even easier for any wine shop willing to do a special order for customers (many wine shops do not normally carry boxed wines because they just don’t have the space, and here in the states, boxed wines don’t fly off the shelves they way they do in Europe).
Mia says
Hi, how can you keep it chilled? Can the box be laid in ice?
Thanks!
Mia
Robyn Doyon-Aitken says
Great question! Pro tips from Alex: You can cool the box in either in a cooler that drains, so the box is not sitting in water, or pull the silver bladder out of the cardboard and put that straight into an ice chest/bucket if it’s very wet. A beverage cooler is ideal but not everyone has one. Alex uses a cooler bag with those freezable ice packs when he’s traveling.

A liquor store in Torrington can’t even find the item number. They order from winebow but can’t find this at all in their system.
Robyn Doyon-Aitken says
Hi Roberta. The item number is 30204413. (Boxed wines are not listed alongside their bottled counterparts, I’m told).

Do you know of stores in New Haven?
Robyn Doyon-Aitken says
Odd Bins and The Wine Thief in New Haven have a box (and will order, if you ask).
Abby says
I found it at the Bottle Stop in Torrington this afternoon!
Robyn Doyon-Aitken says
Whoo hoo! Enjoy, Abby. And, report back.
suzan says
Thanks for your post Abby. I live in Torrington and know the Bottle Stop! I was wondering where I would have to go to get this and thanks to you I know! : )
Amy says
Anywhere in the Vernon/Manchester area selling it that you know of?
Robyn Doyon-Aitken says
Not sure. . .but if you call the shop closest to you and give the staff the info, they can order it for you. If they’re too small of a shop to special order a boxed wine, a bigger shop may be willing. Here are a couple of shops that ordered it for listeners around the show’s air date: Buyrite in Wethersfield
and Center Wines & Spirits in Glastonbury. Maybe try your local shop(s) first and keep these shops in mind if all else fails.
Carolyn Baker says
Do you know of any boxed reds?
Robyn Doyon-Aitken says
They do. . .we’ll be featuring it in August. Stay tuned!
Gordon says
It is available at Barrels $ Bins in Driggs, Id, the quiet side of the Tetons, which is 29 miles from Jackson Hole, WY.
Robyn Doyon-Aitken says
I’d LOVE to know if we’ve got Food Schmooze fans in those parts!
Thuy Phan says
I was listening about this on my drive home from work and I was so excited about it that I called my local liquor store to order it for me. My weakness is rosé in the summer, thanks so much for sharing
Robyn Doyon-Aitken says
You’re very welcome. Thanks for listening!

I’m in Granby. Will investigate the Farmington Valley. If anyone finds out before me, please post! Thanks! Love your show!!!

Love your show Faith…I have family in Bethlehem and travel there often from Great Barrington. Looking for a shop in Great Barrington that carries this wine.
Winebow and the wine is called Clos des Lumierer, 3 liter box. The item number is 30204413.
Robyn Doyon-Aitken says
Call your favorite shop and ask them to order it for you. Since most shops are small and can’t carry everything, it’s always worth asking if the owner is willing to do a special order. Most are willing. Good luck!
Loretta Bergesen says
Any shops around Beverly Massachusetts have the boxed rose?
Robyn Doyon-Aitken says
We always recommend calling your favorite shop and asking the staff to check their inventory. If they don’t carry it, many shop owners will be willing to special order it for you.
