Beer Ice Cubes! Ice-Cold Beer from Start to Finish

Good beer is smooth and refreshing; it’s meant to be savored. Every sip. But if we’re being honest, savoring takes time. For the latest Food Schmooze®, Faith posed a question to Chris Prosperi: Is there a way to keep beer ice cold without watering it down? Could beer ice cubes freeze solid enough to keep our beer chill?

There was only one way to find out.

Chris discovered, rather serendipitously, that a conventional kitchen ice cube tray holds exactly one bottle of beer (we use a gluten-reduced beer from New Belgium Brewing Company, by the way, and the gang LOVED it).

Freezing the beer was a breeze. It worked! Because the beer is carbonated, the cubes don’t freeze rock solid, but they do freeze enough to keep your beer cold from your first sip to your last.

If you’d like to take the experiment in another delicious direction, make Hawaiian inspired shaved beer ice or drop the cubes in a blender with fresh lime juice.
