When regular contributor Alex Province and Matthew Bennett recently found themselves with family in mountainous Bend, Oregon, they entertained everyone with their classic dirty vodka martinis. If you’ve ever wondered how to make a simple, delicious martini with style, this is it. (Supermarket olives in a jar are fine.)
Instructions
- Before mixing, chill the martini glass in the freezer, or put ice water in it while you're making the drink.
- In a cocktail shaker filled to the top with ice cubes, add vodka and 1 tablespoon of olive juice from the jar. (The more you add, the "dirtier" it becomes.)
- Shake ferociously, around 50 times. You can hold it with a towel because you want the exterior to look super-frosted. Strain into the chilled martini glass and add three olives. (You can double this recipe to make two drinks.)
