Every time I go through the meat section of the supermarket I pass by these 3/4 inch- to 1-inch ham steaks packaged and ready to go. I always wonder what people do with them. This week, while sifting through the case trying to find something to grill that won’t break the bank, I notice the section of ham. I grab a package (about 1-1/2 pounds) and see that it is less the five dollars. I can grill this, I think to myself. I grab it and wander off to the produce isle for a fresh, ripe pineapple. A quick and easy dinner on the grill that costs a few dollars? Jackpot!

Ham and pineapple is a classic combination you'll find in everything from stir-fries to pizza. For this recipe, once the ham and pineapple are prepped (mere minutes) all I need to do is mix up a quick glaze and start grilling.

Ingredients
- 1 about 1.4 pounds center cut ham slice
- 1 medium pineapple
- 1/4 cup dijon mustard
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 1 tablespoon bourbon
Servings: people
Instructions
- Heat the grill. Take ham out of package and place on a platter.
- Cut the top and bottom off the pineapple and discard. Cut away the skin and slice into 6 good sized slices. With a small round cutter, cut the center core out of all six slices and place on the platter with the ham.
- In a small bowl, mix together the mustard, honey, and bourbon and set aside.
- Place the ham slice on the grill with the pineapple slices and grill for 1 minute. Turn and brush on the glaze on the grilled side. Grill for 1 more minute and place on platter. Brush on the rest of the glaze and serve with a tossed salad and good crusty bread.
