In case you’re just tuning in to these posts, we’re a half hour from Venice in one of Italy’s secret treasure towns, Treviso. This is the place to be, alive with food shops that can bring you to your knees, and remarkably affordable. Venice is a quick, 29-minute train ride away. Among the shops here is Basilico Tredici, a café in one of the village squares where locals come for breakfasts of brioche, espresso, and late afternoon sweets with Prosecco.
Surprisingly, Italians can be found at the bar in this café, drinking small glasses of Prosecco with breakfast, even on work days.
A meal without wine is inconceivable here. Great coffee too.
