If you enjoy the bitter, herbal play of Campari, I think you’ll adore the new California-made bitter liqueur, Bruto Americano. It’s killer in cocktails, even with a simple spritz-style splash of Prosecco or club soda. Its vibrant and secret list of ingredients, we discovered, contains Seville oranges, gentian root, California buckthorn root and a basket of other herbs and botanicals, accounting for its profound intensity. So far, the St. George Spirits company, creators of Bruto Americano, has hit it out of the park with every product they’ve brought to market, including artisanal single malt whiskey, Agricola rum, gin, vodka, brandy and absinthe. While we’ll always have affection for Campari, Bruto Americano is nothing short of dazzling.
