Alex Province shares ideas for summer sangria two ways as well as his method for making Mexican street corn. And Susan Buckley led a fascinating life with the writer, photographer, and gourmand Peter Buckley. Her memoir, Eating with Peter, is a recounting of her experiences—chef by chef, dish by dish—from France, to Morocco, to the Caribbean, and back to New York. This week, Susan describes their delicious life together. Plus, we taste the perfect vacation rosé from the Coppola empire (it’s available everywhere!) and dish with a local foodie Food Schmooze® fan who happens to be a 10-year-old girl from New Haven. Chris Prosperi made a spin on Linda Giuca’s mac-and-cheese in her honor.

Asked of food memories…
At 13 yrs old my Father (who has now passed) and I travelled to London for a Family vacation which was a honeymoon for a business Friend of my Father (a Michael Page) who needed a Chauffeur because he and his new Bride were attending Princess Anne & Mark Phillip’s Wedding. My Father volunteered for the adventure …..so off we went. The wedding festivities took a lot of my Father’s time (I was not allowed to go as a Junior Chauffeur)…..so I really was on my own out on the streets of London…I think in 1973 (a different world then)…I can only remember my Father took me to an expensive restaurant where I had escargot for the first time….but what I will ALWAYS cherish is ENJOYING the company of others and my Father’s ability to get them to speak of THEIR customs………Peace and Bacon for breakfast!
How lucky were you?! Thank you so much for sharing this with us, Patty. What a great food/family memory.
