Want to make a copy cat Egg McMuffin or DD egg sandwich? When we asked Chris Prosperi for his absolute simplest, fastest egg dish, he shared this one. If you use a wide enough coffee cup it will come out the perfect size for a hard roll or English muffin. It doesn’t get an any easier than this, and. . .no drive-thru!
Use a 6-ounce coffee cup or microwave-safe ramekin for this. Cook the eggs one at a time and adjust your cooking time according to how well you want your egg cooked. One minute for a runny yolk, two minutes for a fully cooked yolk. For a variation, consider adding 1/4 cup chopped ham and 4 tablespoons of shredded cheddar cheese, or 1/4 cup chopped bell pepper and 4 tablespoons shredded of Swiss Cheese.

Tried this. 1 minute (thinkig I could do a few more seconds if it needed0
Egg exploded and dripped, then cooked, over side of ramekin.
Slid out and resdy to eat, though quite deformed. And Microwave tray neede cleaning.
What did I do wrong? Microwave is 1200 watts. Maybe not use full strength? Poke smnall hole in white?
Robyn Doyon-Aitken says
Hi Martha. Chris’s best guess is that your microwave wattage is indeed to blame, here. Most microwaves range from 600 – 1200 watts, so yours is definitely on the more powerful side. Between 800 – 900 watts is average. Next time you try this, set your microwave to medium. That should help.
Paul J Vessella says
You must prick the yolk with a knife tip so the yolk does not explode in the dish.
