Faith mentioned that gluten-free baked goods taste metallic because those cooks put lots of table salt in recipes!! Why does she say that? I bake gluten free and moved here from Portland Oregon where I have eaten LOTS of gluten Free baked good that don’t taste metallic. Many of us use French and Maldonado sea salt. There is a VEGAN bakery at Edge of the woods in New Haven that makes amazing baked goods. That was a misguided statement.

Thank you for listening, Ctnthia. Everyone’s palate is different. Faith happens to pick up a metallic taste. Re: salt – Faith was throwing a theory out there and said so. We leave the gastronomic forensics to the scientists, of course. But we appreciate your feedback and LOVE hearing what other people do to make gluten-free dishes delicious. We’re always on the lookout for excellent gluten-free products because so many of our listeners eat that way. Thank you for the Edge of the Woods recommendation! They make a gluten-free chocolate cake I’d eat any day of the week (and I happen not to be a gluten-free eater). Delicious is delicious, gluten-free or not.
