This Dry Riesling from Germany Makes a Great Gift

In our quest to share a few wines that you can feel confident about giving as gifts, we offer up this 2014 Riesling from Schloss Johannisberg. When You Think Spring, Think Red (Wine)

Madonna Del Dono, Dolcetto d' Alba

Normally, the beginning of spring evokes light, airy pastels. More often than not, we find ourselves making brunch and Easter toasts with clinking glasses filled with sparklers, whites and rosés. But, lamb (and other spring foods) have us seeing another color: red. Introduced to us by Mark Raymond from Frederick Wildman and Sons and produced by […]

A Great Bargain Italian Red at $12

Photo: Alex Province

Here’s your weeknight table wine, the 2013 red Campo Reale from Sicily. The color is deep ruby and the grapes, Nero d’Avola, are allowed to achieve full ripeness in late September, giving this wine structure and cherry notes. It’s real and it’s darned good at this price. Show the label at your wine store or call ahead. […]
